Mercury Launches Direct RF Processing Module, Built for

Mercury Systems Inc. delivers processing powers for the most demanding defense missions and aerospace needs, recently introduced a new COTS open-architecture board. It provides the latest commercial signal processing technology for aerospace and defense applications, helping in driving greater performance from a smaller form factor. In addition, the first standard product purpose-built for the aerospace and defense industry, the DRF3182 Direct RF Processing Module leverages Intel's latest Stratix® 10 AX SoC FPGA (field programmable gate array), which adds to the Mercury Processing Platform's critical capability by enabling processing of broadband RF signals and direct digitization.

Direct RF technology makes it possible to directly process broadband signals, unlike traditional systems that use costly analog frequency conversion hardware. In addition, the simplified architecture helps in reducing the total cost and system size while increasing flexibility. This technology is designed for radar and electronic warfare (EW) and enhances various applications like software-defined radio and communications.

To keep up with the rapidly growing threat environment, deploying advanced processing capabilities to the tactical edge is necessary. Mercury has achieved a new standard for performance by working closely with Intel, ensuring that modern EW and radar systems can give U.S. and allied forces an advantage in making decisions and make the world secure and safer. The feature of Mercury's DRF3182 Direct RF Processing Module includes Intel Stratix® 10 AX-Series SOC FPGA, 3U OpenVPX form factor, four 10-bit ADC and DAC channels at 51.2 GSPS, Ku band ranging 2 – 18 GHz and Six 100 GigE data aircraft interfaces for an aggregate throughput rate of 75 GB/sec.

The DRF3182 Direct RF Processing Module is commercially available now. Mercury envisions, develops, and delivers innovative technology solutions tailored to its customers' most pressing high-tech requirements.
