Last week, we received news that the Airbus A330-800 has finally achieved joint Type Certification from European and American civil aviation regulators. With this milestone achieved, airlines can feel even more confident adding the aircraft to their fleets. However, this smaller variant of the A330neo has only been ordered by a few airlines, in small quantities. Today we’ll look at what other airlines around the world might benefit from the A330-800.

Viva Aerobus had a great 2019. It had record numbers in almost every financial and operative indicator. The biggest them of all was an increase of 27.8% in its annual earnings, posting a total of $675 million USD. During 2019, Viva Aerobus also posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization, and restructuring or rent costs (EBITDAR) of $203 million USD. It meant an increase of 23.1% in comparison to 2018.

New technologies are helping supersonic flying make a comeback. While the aviation industry has been under scrutiny for its role in climate change over the years, Aerion is looking to maintain sustainable supersonic travel with the AS2. This plane will be the first privately built supersonic commercial aircraft ever. Set to enter into service by 2026, the model will deliver a Mach 1.4 supersonic cruise. It will also maintain the fastest subsonic cruise of any jet in history at Mach 0.95.
