Have you ever thought about which routes around the world see the most traffic? What would your guesses be? Every year, the organization OAG (Official Airline Guide) puts out a publication detailing the world’s busiest routes. Their 2019 report had some interesting findings. Here’s what it revealed.
While flying cars may someday deliver on the Jetsons-like promise of buzzing around cities in robotic air taxis, the future of commercial aviation is no less tantalising. Companies large and small are working on cleaning up the skies with electric airplanes, bringing back supersonic travel, and even flirting with the edge of space to transport passengers across the world.
Why did Airbus build the A321XLR? Why did they look at the market and decide that it needed an aircraft that could fly 4,700 nautical miles non-stop with passengers in a single-aisle? And why have airlines fallen in love with the aircraft? Let’s discuss why Airbus saw a need for this aircraft, and how airlines have reacted.
Viva Aerobus had a great 2019. It had record numbers in almost every financial and operative indicator. The biggest them of all was an increase of 27.8% in its annual earnings, posting a total of $675 million USD. During 2019, Viva Aerobus also posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization, and restructuring or rent costs (EBITDAR) of $203 million USD. It meant an increase of 23.1% in comparison to 2018.
