USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) successfully launched and recovered a fixed-wing aircraft at sea during a shakedown cruise on July 28. The test is definitive proof that the new carrier’s evolutionary electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) and advanced arresting gear (AAG) work.
