Industry is focussed on stepping up production in response to growing order backlogs, which currently stand at 13,402, worth £210bn to the UK. Single-aisle production levels increased 23% compared with August 2015 and indicates a smooth transition to the new fuel efficient aircraft demanded by airlines. Canadian operator WestJet is planning a new transatlantic service. The Boeing 737 operated flight would be used to connect Canada’s Halifax to Manchester in the United Kingdom.
