Etihad Airways said on Wednesday it has raised $500 million in funds for the airline and four of its minority-owned carriers. The announcement follows the airline’s successful efforts last year to raise $700 million using its Etihad Airways Partners platform, a group of airlines minority owned by Etihad. Etihad along with its airport services unit and minority owned Air Berlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles and Alitalia raised the $500 million, according to an Etihad statement....

A man is suing an airline, claiming he got a back injury after being forced to sit next to an obese man who coughed a lot. James Andres Bassos has taken Etihad Airways to court in Queensland saying he was forced to twist and contort his body for long periods on a 2011 flight from Sydney to Dubai. Mr Bassos' District Court claim states the 'grossly overweight' passenger was spilling into his seat, was coughing frequently and had fluid coming from his mouth....

Canadian operator WestJet is planning a new transatlantic service. The Boeing 737 operated flight would be used to connect Canada’s Halifax to Manchester in the United Kingdom.
