TAV's history dates back to 1997, with the official call for tenders for the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal Building. TAV was established as a joint venture between Tepe and Akfen groups who won the tender. Put into operation in 2000, Istanbul Ataturk Airport is among the very first examples of "Build-Operate-Transfer" projects in the world.
