Airspace Link Partners with MissionGO for life-saving drone deliveries
Airspace Link Inc., a leading North American provider of safer, scalable drone solutions, is partnering with MissionGO, a leader in unmanned aircraft systems production & operations, to launch data-driven processes for informing safe flight planning decisions of time-critical organ deliveries and time-sensitive medical cargo. The team's goal is to perform operations that use data-driven models to ensure safety, ultimately enabling safe package delivery solutions for the commercial unmanned aircraft industry.

This teaming announcement comes on the heels of a mobility and electrification investment from Michigan's Economic Development Corporation. Michigan's Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, was joined by state, local, and university officials at Kettering University's GM Mobility Research Center in Flint to announce the first round of Michigan Mobility Funding Platform grants. Airspace Link was one of five grant award recipients.  MissionGO is a key partner collaborating with Airspace Link to enable innovative, sustainable transportation solutions in Southeast Michigan, as well as other areas throughout the country. This is just one of many projects that the pair has plans to collaborate on.

MissionGO's team of experts have led the way for advancing the use of unmanned aircraft for human organ transport, including the first pancreas flown, the longest distance flown for a human organ, and the first delivery of a human organ for transplant using an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) back in April of 2019. MissionGO continues to conduct organ and blood deliveries and is now in the process of certifying their MG Velos 100 UAS aircraft, an all-electric UAS rotorcraft capable of carrying up to 20 lb. payload and a flight endurance of up to 90 minutes.

Airspace Link's AirHub™ platform connects with key stakeholders that need to participate in the implementation of these valuable services so that there is community engagement from local authorities and end-user health care systems. We work to manage, inform, and obtain authorizations, if required, from the regulatory agencies as well as communicate with drone operators and the community through our digital connections via one shared platform. Airspace Link's AirHub™ solution will also assist with operations that requires a Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability approval from the FAA. The AirHub™ solution offers approval for further justification digitally with the FAA, and as of August 11th, also with night operations. Success of the first public flight of the VoloDrone by Volocopter

Volocopter's heavy-lift electric drone VoloDrone made its first public flight today at the ITS 2021 World Congress . Together with international logistics leader DB Schenker, Volocopter, the pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), demonstrated the seamless integration of VoloDrone into the supply chain with an end-to-end freight transport demonstration. The partners showed the significant progress they have made together since DB Schenker became a strategic investor of Volocopter in early 2020. The 3-minute test flight took off at 3:02 p.m. from homePORT Hamburg and reached a maximum altitude of 22 meters. For this delivery simulation, the heavy transport electric drone was fitted with a loading box between its landing gears. First, the demonstration teams fixed a load the size of a Europe palleton the box located under the VoloDrone, before taking off gently. The aircraft then brought the payload to a DB Schenker cargo bike and landed safely. After the payload was successfully transferred, the cargo bike delivered its cargo to its final destination under the area parking lot, marking the completion of the last mile fully electric multimodal delivery. “This first public flight of the VoloDrone is a strong sign for Volocopter's leadership position in the UAM industry. The VoloDrone is an unmanned, fully electric drone designed to carry pallets of any size among the six sizes of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), weighing up to 200 kilograms, over a distance of 40 kilometers . As part of Volocopter's strong line of UAM aircraft for transporting passengers ( VoloCity and VoloConnect ) and freight in cities, the VoloDrone is positioned to be deployed where conventional transport options reach their limits. In addition to the development of the device, Volocopter organizes the physical ( VoloPorts ) and digital ( VoloIQ) to support these services, which should be launched within the next two to three years. VoloIQ serves as the digital backbone for operations. The first flight of the VoloDrone took place in 2019. Since then, regular flight tests have been carried out at various aerodromes in Germany. The drone itself measures 9.15 meters in diameter, 2.15 meters in height and has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 600 kilograms. ASL Aviation Holdings Signs LOI with Universal Hydrogen, Becoming a Launch Customer for Hydrogen-Powered ATR 72 Cargo Aircraft

Universal Hydrogen Co., the company leading the fight to decarbonize aviation through the adoption of hydrogen as a universal fuel, today announced it has executed a letter of intent (LOI) with ASL Aviation Holdings, a global aviation services group based in Dublin, Ireland. ASL will be a global launch customer for the turboprop cargo market and plans to purchase up to ten of Universal Hydrogen’s ATR 72 conversion kits for installation into its existing or future turboprop aircraft fleet. Upon completion of a collaborative network study and aircraft assessment, Universal Hydrogen’s conversion kits will be installed in ATR 72 planes owned by ASL and operated on services for its major customers throughout Europe. In addition to the conversion kits, ASL has agreed to provide an ATR 72 to Universal Hydrogen to use as its cargo test and certification aircraft. The ASL CargoVision forum is an initiative to drive innovation and sustainability in the air cargo industry, and working together in this forum Universal Hydrogen and ASL will move quickly to reduce emissions in the critical regional sector served by the ATR 72.
