British Airways Announces New Partnership with Hydrogen-powered Aircraft Startup ZeroAvia

Shortly after British Airways declared a new partnership with hydrogen-powered aircraft startup ZeroAvia, Amazon joined various new financial specialists backing their arrangement to build up a 19-seat zero-emission turboprop by 2023.

California-based ZeroAvia completed a series of test flights recently with a Piper Malibu Malibu turboprop modified with a 300-kilowatt (kW) battery electric force framework alongside a tweaked cockpit show and PC. In a Dec. 16 press release, ZeroAvia affirmed $21.4 million out of another Series A round of funding lead by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Ecosystem Integrity Fund.

Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, Horizons Ventures, Shell Ventures, and Summa Equity have likewise joined as follow-on investors. Likewise, the U.K. government focused on $16.3 million in non-dilutive funding through its Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Program intended to expand the nation's competitiveness in civil aerospace.
