Bridger Aerospace | February 17, 2023
On February 16, 2023, one of the nation’s largest aerial firefighting companies, Bridger Aerospace Holding’s Inc., announced that it had received its sixth Super Scooper CL-451EAF from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited.
The Super Scooper is a water- and air-capable aircraft that skims the surface of a body of water to collect water for dropping on a fire. The Super Scooper is designed purposely to allow an aggressive low-altitude flight profile, enabling pilots to deliver their drops precisely, targeting the fire harder and dousing it faster.
The aircraft can lift to 1,412 gallons of water in about 10 seconds. Since 90% of wildfires are within 20 miles of a significant water source, Super Scoopers is a very efficient way to get water to a fire quickly and cheaply without having to go back to an airport to fill up the water tanks.
Tim Sheehy, Bridger Aerospace’s Chief Executive Officer, mentioned, “The delivery of our sixth Scooper will allow us to further expand our operations and allow greater deployment of the Bridger aircraft fleet across the U.S.” He also commented, “In conjunction with our Air Attack and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) fleet, we believe that we are one of the most full-spectrum aerial fire service providers in North America with a fleet of over 20 aircraft.”
