Venus Aerospace applauds the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science on Transportation for introducing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2023 earlier this week. The Senate legislation thoughtfully lays out a robust and well-constructed policy foundation for the U.S. hypersonic industry. The legislation would ensure that the FAA is prepared to certify and regulate hypersonic aircraft in the years ahead as foreign regulators and companies also make strides in hypersonic technology. We express our gratitude to Chair Cantwell and Ranking Member Cruz for their bipartisan leadership on this important issue and look forward to seeing the legislation progress.
Venus has been awarded contracts with NASA and US Defense Agencies to accelerate the development and transition of its RDRE (rotating detonation rocket engine) technology to enhance existing government missions. The company's advancements can also enable more efficient travel in and through space. Venus has developed the world's first liquid-propellant rotating detonation rocket engine with a double-digit percentage increase in efficiency over standard engines, making the hypersonic economy possible.
In Spring 2022, the company raised its $20M Series A, led by Prime Movers Lab, to fund engine development and subscale initial flight testing for building its Mach 9 hypersonic drone and Mach 9 spacecraft, both capable of one-hour global travel. Venus recently announced the addition of Airbus Ventures to its team of investors.
