CSeries engines not afflicted with PW1100G issues

Bombardier and Pratt & Whitney confirm that CSeries' PW1500G geared turbofans have not been afflicted with engine issues that recently grounded dozens of Airbus A320neo-family aircraft. "Pratt & Whitney has informed us that the issue identified on the PW1100G-JM engine does not appear to impact the PW1500G engine on the Bombardier CSeries aircraft," Bombardier tells FlightGlobal. "As such, no action is required for Bombardier or our customers at this time," P&W adds that the issues have likewise not affected geared turbofans that power Mitsubishi Aircraft's MRJ or Embraer's E-Jet E2. Airlines recently grounded some A320-family aircraft following issues with PW1100G engines. Four of those engines suffered failures in-flight or on take-off between late January and early February, P&W has said.
