UK and Canada conclude post-Brexit open skies agreement

December 03, 2018 / OLIVER CLARK

The UK has concluded a new air services agreement with Canada to allow for uninterrupted services between the two countries after Brexit. Canadian transport minister Marc Garneau says the new agreement will allow any number of Canadian and British carriers to operate between both countries and gives those airlines "full flexibility" on route selection, including via third countries, frequency of service, and pricing. The agreement also includes "unrestricted rights" for all-cargo services as well as codeshare services. UK transport secretary Chris Grayling says the UK will continue to enjoy the same access they is currently enjoyed with Canada through the EU open skies agreement. This new aviation agreement between the UK and Canada will further strengthen the strong economic and cultural bonds shared between our countries
