Madrid airport is looking for the owner of an abandoned ghost plane

A plane has been sitting on the tarmac at a Madrid airport for years − and it's not clear who actually owns it. The director of Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport, Elena Mayoral Corcuera, sent an official notice this month stating the mysterious plane is in an "obvious state of abandonment," according to multiple reports. It's not immediately clear how long the plane, a McDonnell Douglas MD87, has been there, but The Telegraph reports it could have been parked there for up to nine years. Information from aviation website Planespotters.net indicates Iberia purchased the plane in 1990 and was it later bought by now-defunct airlines Pronair in 2008 and Saicus Air in 2009.
