SATAVIA and AirCarbon Exchange (ACX) are delighted to announce an historic partnership, combining world-leading tech with pioneering commodities infrastructure to support trading of carbon credits generated by SATAVIA's unique contrail prevention technology.
Aircraft-generated condensation trails, or contrails, account for up to 60% of aviation's climate impact, almost double that of direct CO2 emissions from aircraft engines. Until recently, scientific and technical challenges made contrail prevention difficult or impossible. SATAVIA's best-in-class atmospheric modelling now enables operators to optimize flight plans for contrail prevention, subsequently converting achieved climate benefit into tradable carbon credits in a new market worth up to $9bn at current pricing.
The planned ACX trade will monetize contrail prevention activity carried out with SATAVIA's commercial partner Etihad Airways during the week leading up to Earth Day (18th-22nd April 2022), with SATAVIA collaborating with Etihad to optimize multiple flight plans for contrail prevention.

While most green aviation initiatives focus on hardware upgrades with year- or decade-long timeframes, SATAVIA's DECISIONX:NETZERO platform is a software solution with immediate applicability and near-term returns. By engaging in contrail prevention activity, eco-conscious operators like Etihad will now be able to generate commercial returns from climate-friendly operations, helping to support commercially sustainable green aviation.

Scientific research suggests that aircraft contrails generate up to 1.8 billion tonnes of CO2e each year (2019 flight numbers), equivalent to 2% of all human impact. This equates to a new carbon market worth $9bn at current nominal voluntary carbon pricing, forecast to rise tenfold by 2030.

Wisk, a leading Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) company and developer of the first all-electric, self-flying air taxi in the U.S., has secured $450 million in funding from The Boeing Company, making it one of the most well-funded AAM companies in the world. Combined with previous funding, this investment reinforces Wisk’s strong position as a privately-backed AAM leader and highlights the strength of Wisk’s strategic partnership with Boeing and their collaboration on critical technology development.
This investment will further advance the development of Wisk’s 6th generation eVTOL aircraft, a first-ever candidate for certification of an autonomous, all-electric, passenger-carrying aircraft in the U.S. The funding will also support the company as it enters an intensive growth phase over the next year, its preparations for the launch of scale manufacturing, and the company’s Go-to-Market efforts.
Within five years following the certification of its 6th generation aircraft, Wisk intends to operate one of the industry’s largest fleets of AAM eVTOL aircraft. The scale of this fleet is enabled by the company’s autonomous technology, a competitive differentiator and industry-recognized key to scaling services and maximizing safety. In this timeframe, Wisk anticipates close to 14M annual flights bringing time savings to over 40 million people across 20 cities – all with zero emissions.

Breeze Airways, the Seriously Nice™ new U.S. low-fare airline, and Viasat Inc., a global communications company, today announced Viasat will outfit Breeze's complete Airbus A220-300 fleet with its most advanced in-flight connectivity (IFC) solution. Breeze has 80 Airbus A220s on order with an option for an additional 40. While Breeze will operate the Airbus A220 starting in May, the first aircraft featuring Viasat connectivity is expected to enter service in October 2022.

Honeywell has been selected to provide its new HTS7500 turboshaft engine as the power behind the Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing DEFIANT X® helicopter, currently a contender to win the U.S. Army's Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) competition.
The HTS7500 turboshaft engine is the newest and most technologically advanced model in Honeywell's family of military engines, which includes the iconic T55 engine that has powered the H-47 fleet for over 60 years. Like the T55, the HTS7500 is a highly reliable engine designed to thrive in austere environments and to perform to keep military personnel safer. The HTS7500 enhances mission readiness and exceeds mission power and fuel consumption requirements. The new engine comes equipped with a modernized control system, which enables a highly secure flow of engine data. The control system improves operating capabilities, reduces life-cycle costs, and ensures engine health status through its digital thread road map.
