GlobalX Inks Deal With Eviation for 50 All-Electric Alice Aircraft
Eviation Aircraft, a manufacturer of all-electric aircraft, today announced that Global Crossing Airlines Group, Inc a Miami-based provider of passenger and cargo charter jets, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) ordering 50 all-electric commuter Alice aircraft. The aircraft will open up new routes for passenger travel in GlobalX's key markets in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, supporting the airline's plan to adopt carbon-free and sustainable technologies.Alice is a nine-passenger electric aircraft offering a premium passenger experience. The aircraft, built from a clean-sheet design around all-electric propulsion, produces no carbon emissions, significantly reduces noise, and costs a fraction to operate per flight hour compared to light jets or high-end turboprops. Alice is powered by two magni650 electric propulsion units by magniX, which is the global industry leader in flight-proven electric propulsion systems at this scale. GlobalX began passenger operations in August 2021 and operates seven A320 family aircraft serving the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America. It also has 15 A321 freighter aircraft under lease agreements and will commence cargo operations in Q4 2022. Alice will enable GlobalX to introduce new, sustainable flight options for growing markets including Miami, Orlando and the Bahamas. GlobalX expects to take delivery of its initial Alice aircraft in 2027, and is evaluating the cargo aircraft variant of Alice for supporting its cargo customer base.

AZORES AIRLINES, GALP, NESTE AND CARLYLE AVIATION TAKE OFF FOR SATA GROUP'S FIRST FLIGHT WITH SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

October 24th will go down in Azores Airlines' history as the beginning of a new era, the date of its first-ever flight using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This milestone is even more significant considering that a few days ago, the SATA Group joined the European Union's Zero Emissions Aviation Alliance, an initiative aimed precisely at decarbonizing the sector by 2050. Azores Airlines' first commercial flight fueled with SAF connected Lisbon and Ponta Delgada, in an Airbus A320 named UNIQUE with registration CS-TKK. The aircraft took off from Lisbon airport at 19H25M local time and landed at Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, at 21H30M local time. The fuel used on this route incorporated 39% renewable origin material known as HEFA (Hydro processed Esters and Fatty Acids), representing a 35% reduction in total CO2 emissions. The preparation and monitoring of this first commercial flight using sustainable aviation fuel involved the energy partners Galp and NESTE, two leading innovators in biofuels and recyclable fuels, and Carlyle Aviation Partners, a commercial aviation investment platform and lessor of the CS-TKK UNIQUE aircraft operated by Azores Airlines. Together with Azores Airlines' technical teams, the partners ensured the feasibility of this operation. SAF offers similar performance to traditional jet fuel and can be used in the same engines as fossil fuel but with a significantly lower carbon footprint. NESTE's SAF is produced from 100% sustainably sourced renewable waste and residue raw materials, such as used cooking oil and animal fat waste. Positioning itself as a strategic SAF supplier, Galp plans to produce 240.000 tons/year of SAF as part of the transformation of its Sines industrial site into a Green Energy Park. United Airlines Invests in Battery-Maker Natron Energy With Eye Toward Further Electrifying Ground Operations

United Airlines today announced a strategic equity investment in Natron Energy, a battery manufacturer whose sodium-ion batteries have the potential to help United electrify its airport ground equipment like pushback tractors and operations at the gate. United has made substantial investments in companies developing technology to reduce aircraft emissions, but Natron is the first that has the potential to reduce the greenhouse gas footprint from United's ground operations. Vita Rescue System Completes U.S. Army Developmental Flight Testing

The U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) completed developmental flight testing on the Vita Rescue System – Litter Attachment (VRS-LA) for the Product Director (PD) MEDEVAC. The VRS-LA is an anti-rotational device that can be used to increase the effectiveness and safety of MEDEVAC hoist missions. The VRS-LA was tested on both the SKEDCO Basic Rescue System and the Stokes Rescue Litter. Testing was conducted to ensure the device would perform in various operational environments. Completion of the army flight and environmental testing is an important milestone for Vita Inclinata as it moves through the airworthiness certification process. The flight-testing process put the VRS LA through a series of rigorous field tests designed to fully explore the technology's capability. Prior to flight testing, the VRS underwent extensive environmental testing designed to ensure that the system will function under even the most extreme conditions. Up next, for the VRS-LA is the user-evaluation phase. During this phase, the system will be used by soldiers in the field with the express purpose of collecting user feedback and ensuring mission effectiveness. Vita is proud to have completed developmental flight testing and looks forward to continuing our work with the Army testing team at USAARL to ensure this life-saving technology can achieve the mission of bringing soldiers home every time.
