IFS Solution for Aircraft Fleet Repairs Chosen by Japan Airlines Engineering Division

Aircraft Fleet
IFS, the global cloud business software provider, announced that JAL Engineering Co., Ltd., the maintenance and engineering subsidiary of Japan Airlines, has chosen IFS to enable fleet-wide long-range maintenance planning. Long-range planners will be able to swiftly design and distribute regulatory-compliant fleet maintenance plans that best support aircraft availability, task yield, and hangar utilization for over 200 aircraft using the IFS system, which will be hosted in the cloud.

The IFS fleet planning system replaces a legacy fleet maintenance planning method used by JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. that needed a lot of manual intervention. Because of the IFS solution's effective user experience, reduction in manual processes, real-time warnings, and automated processes, the engineering team will be able to handle more aircraft with less human intervention.

IFS's planning and maintenance solution, which is deployed in the cloud, will boost visibility across the business by giving real-time planning updates. Staff at JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. will now be able to compare key performance indicators while examining the impact of important strategic decisions in the business, such as revising aircraft induction and retirement, adjusting resource levels, or changing utilization levels.

JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. joins China Airlines, Qantas, TAE Aerospace, and others as IFS expands its presence in the Asia-Pacific commercial aviation and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry.

"After an extensive market review, JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. selected IFS for its experience in the industry, strong existing reference customers and its complementary fit with our long-term MRO strategy. With IFS fleet maintenance planning software JAL Engineering Co., Ltd.  can automate processes that were previously manual and labor intensive, improve team collaboration by allowing planners to work on a single plan simultaneously, and ultimately decrease aircraft downtime and maximize task yield."

Ryo Tamura, President, JAL Engineering Co., Ltd.

Gerry Fosnick, President, IFS Japan, added "This latest selection affirms the fact that IFS is trusted by some of the world's leading airlines and MRO providers to support fleet-wide maintenance planning and operations. We look forward to working with JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. to better manage its long-range fleet maintenance plans now and into the future."
