Sikorsky Deal Keeps Copters Flowing

What began with "a nudge" seeking state help lobbying for U.S. military spending led to one of the largest state business deals in years, committing Sikorsky Aircraft to making 200 U.S. Navy helicopters in Connecticut until at least 2032. Officials of the Teamsters union and Lockheed Martin Corp. met in May at an annual lobbying briefing in Washington, figuring out ways to present a united front for congressional funding for top-dollar military equipment, said Rocco Calo, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 1150 that represents Sikorsky workers in Stratford and Florida.
