Advanced digital imaging products manufacturer, Teledyne FLIR, recently acquired ChartWorld International Limited and its affiliates.
Subscribers to ChartWorld's software as a service (SaaS) for commercial maritime use are entitled to the free type-approved Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), global 24/7 support and a lifetime guarantee. ChartWorld also offers digital Electronic Navigational Charts, and various geospatial software and services, such as voyage planning, digital route appraisal, and onshore software for monitoring fleets and risk assessments.
SevenCs, a ChartWorld affiliate, has a long and distinguished history of participating in creating standards for the electronic maritime charts display. SevenCs continues to provide ENC production and distribution software and software development kits for displaying electronic nautical charts which follow maritime standards to other navigation system OEMs.
ChartWorld's maritime navigation software and hardware tools, according to Teledyne, bridge a product and technology gap between its Marine and Raymarine businesses. In addition, the company claims that the acquisition increases its software capabilities and recurring revenue while expanding its customer base to include Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)-class commercial boats and commercial fleet operators.
