Space is central to this complexity. Not only does space underpin all instruments of our national power, but access to and freedom to maneuver in the domain are foundational to the United States’ status as a great power. This sixth edition of the Space Threat Assessment describes a domain undergoing a significant and rapid transformation. The number of objects in space continues to soar, the value of the global space economy is at an all-time high, and, unfortunately, the threat to the domain is real and concerning today. Over the past year and a half, there has been regular testing and use of reversible non-destructive capabilities as well as a destructive test that created a debris field, jeopardizing safe operations and indicating that the domain will continue to become more contested.

If you travel a lot for work, then you’ll know about airline reward schemes. These programmes encourage travellers to book again and again with the same airline, collect loyalty points and exchange them for benefits such as discounted fares and free upgrades. But did you also know that in addition to these frequent flyer schemes for individuals, there are also airline reward schemes for companies? These corporate reward schemes are a great way to maximise the value of your company’s travel spend, while benefitting your travellers at the same time.

Increasingly, aircraft brokers are expecting the use of electronic logbooks to ensure that records are wellorganized and complete. Advantages of cloud-based record-keeping include 24/7 accessibility, searchability, service milestone alerts, and data security. You also should be diligent about keeping an itemized list of the loose equipment that originally came with your aircraft, as well as storing equipment in an easily accessible, climate-controlled location. Being able to produce all logbooks and loose equipment when it’s time to sell can help boost your aircraft’s value

One of the primary environmental issues that significantly influences the capacity and flexibility of the national aviation system is aircraft1 and vehicle2 noise (collectively, “aircraft noise”). 3 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) maintains a robust program of activities related to aviation noise. The FAA’s approach is multi-pronged, including research and development, regulatory control, and public and stakeholder outreach programs relating to the public’s experience of aviation noise.4 The FAA strives to reduce noise in ways within its purview, but its ability to control the change in aircraft noise exposure is limited.

The airline flight deck is one of the most coveted workplaces, as can be attested to by the more than 100,000 pilots in the United States and Canada who work hard and sacrifice to earn a seat at the controls of a transport category airline aircraft. However, despite the attractiveness of an airline pilot career, the flight deck environment is very industrial in nature and can be the source of serious injuries and longterm health issues. As such, it needs protections for pilots that are commonly found in other industries. This white paper explores the various types of health and safety risks found on the flight deck and in the aircraft cabin and provides recommendations on ways to address identified inadequacies across a wide range of topics and health threats. These inadequacies need to be addressed by federal agencies charged with establishment and enforcement of rules and policies designed to protect airline pilots while carrying out their duties at work.
